graduation project | 2016
For my graduation project, I designed Devanagari drop caps or decorative initials—a design element traditionally associated with Latin scripts. This project allowed me to delve into the beauty and versatility of Devanagari letterforms, and to apply decorative and functional typographic techniques to a script that is less commonly explored in this context. The process began with four weeks of intensive calligraphy practice, helping me develop a deeper understanding of the letterforms.
The project was done under the guidance and mentorship of Sarang Kulkarni and Noopur Datye at Whitecrow, Mumbai.
